Lawn Care FAQs

Here are some of the most common questions we’re asked about getting the perfect lawn. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, just get in touch.

What if it rains after my lawncare treatment?

Products such as fertiliser, some fungicides, lime, and worm pellets are typically granular therefore, rain in most cases is helpful.

Products such as broadleaf weed and foreign grass control are often applied in a liquid form. Most of these sprays are completely effective if they have a chance to dry on the leaf/plant. The warmer the temperature and the lower the humidity, the quicker this happens. It is often on a case-by-case basis, but we have seen sprays dry as quickly as 15 minutes.

On days when the forecast has a potential for rain, we often have our technicians add a sticker to the mix. This chemical helps the treatment stay put on the leaf/plant even in rainfall.

If you are concerned that the spray had been washed off, we will still need to wait for a couple of weeks to see what the outcome is, then we can assess and determine whether to spray again or not.

How long will it take for broadleaf weeds to die?

Depending on the time of year and current growth, it can take up to two weeks to die. Please avoid mowing for at least three days after treatment.

My lawn has just been renovated via lawn drilling, what do I do now?

Water! Water your lawn daily, especially for the first few weeks. Avoid spraying weeds while the new seed is establishing, usually at least eight weeks.

Do you spray prickles? If so, when?

Yes, we do spray for Onehunga Prickles from around August to no later than October. Labour Weekend is typically the latest that we are able to have effective control.
