Our Team

Mike Glasson
Director

Mike is a Director at Lawn and Turf Contracting Ltd. He first started the business as a sole trader in 2001 and proceeded to become a company in 2006. 

Mike has a Trade Certificate in Golf Course Greenkeeping and is a member of the International Erosion control association (IECA), visiting the USA twice to attend Erosion Control Conferences, Green Space Conference, and a Turf Management Conference. 

Mike has a wealth of experience from his 10 years working as a Golf Course Greenkeeper in New Zealand as well as in Taiwan. Mike spent 2.5 years overseas in Taiwan at the prestigious Formosa First Golf Club and The Formosa Yangmei Golf Club hosting international events such as The Parliament Masters and specialising in golf course construction and full irrigation and maintenance. 

Starting out by working at the Te Awamutu Golf course, he then moved on to the North Shore Golf Club constructing 9 holes of the Golf Course. Later, he worked at the Remuera Golf Club being responsible for the construction of new tees and bunkers for the NZ Golf Open. 

If ever Mike has any spare time, he spends it fishing, snow skiing, travelling or out enjoying the countryside on his motorbike.

Debbie Glasson
Director

Debbie is a director at Lawn & Turf Contracting Ltd and manages the office with the administration team covering all aspects of the company. Debbie has her NZ Certificate in Architectural Draughting  and a Bachelor of Management Majoring in Accounting and Finance at Waikato University.

Previously, Debbie worked as a Commercial Property Manager for 26 years while covering all administration needs for Mike at Lawn & Turf Contracting Ltd. Debbie is married to Mike and two sons, one who specialises in IT and one working and studying as an accountant.

When Debbie isn’t in the office she enjoys traveling, snow and water skiing, or you’ll often see her in her garden.

Dylan
Management Team
Dylan has been part of the Lawn & Turf Contracting team since November 2015. Dylan is our Irrigation Manager and supports the supervision of the Construction Team. He provides a great skill set in his ability to produce irrigation drawings, designs and quotes for automatic irrigation systems and general lawn and landscaping work. Dylan has a varied background working for Transfield Services as a record specialist and has studied at Wintec finishing a Super Yacht course. Over the years Dylan has completed his Level 3 Certificate in Horticulture (Sports Turf), a Leadership in Safety Course, Truck Licenses Class 2 and 4, Forklift License and is Site Safe Approved. During 2023 Dylan will be studying Level 4 Certificate in Horticulture (Sports Turf) When Dylan isn’t working, he’ll most likely be out and about with his wife and toddler, playing a game of golf or planning his next get away as they love to travel.

Josh
Management Team
Josh started with us straight out of school and has been working at Lawn & Turf Contracting since February 2017. Josh started in the Construction Team and with the background of his parents Is multiskilled in machinery and equipment operating. You’ll be familiar with Josh as he was one of our main Hydroseeders moving into Sales and Construction Coordinator in 2022. During his time with us, Josh has obtained Certificates in Standard Growsafe, Basic First Aid, Level 1 Basic Traffic Controller and is Site Safe Approved. Josh holds Truck Licenses Class 2 and 4 and as well as his Forklift License. Josh is a talented Rugby player and played for the Waikato U19’s in 2017, NZ Marist Rugby Team, King Country Rams in 2019 + 2022 and is currently playing for Hamilton Marist. Josh’s hobbies include keeping fit whether that’s Rugby training or at the gym. You’ll often hear about Josh and his partner going to the beach or his family farm in King Country with their golden retriever to hang out with friends and family.

Jimmy
Management Team
James (Jimmy) has worked for Lawn & Turf Contracting since 2017, previously working as a drainlayer. Jimmy is the Hydroseeding Team Leader and is our main hydroseeder and digger driver. He has been busy accumulating certificates in harness training, confined space work, first aid, class 2, 4 truck licenses and forklift, basic traffic controller and site safe approved. Outside of work Jimmy enjoys playing and watching basketball and cricket.

Wayne
Management Team (Fleet Manager)
Wayne is our longest working team member and has been with us since October 2008. Wayne’s main division of Lawn & Turf Contracting was Lawncare but as the company grew so did our fleet and the opportunity to transition from Lawncare Manager to Fleet Manager arose. He is a qualified mechanic and before working for Lawn & Turf Contracting Ltd, owned his own local trucking business for over 16 years. Wayne is a jack of trades and covers all aspects of the business, focusing most of his time maintaining and fixing all of our machinery and equipment. With years of working for Lawn & Turf, Wayne has become our go to man of knowledge/advice and supports all of our Operation Managers. Wayne has obtained his Growsafe Standard Certificate, Forklift License, Truck Licenses 2, 4 and 5, Site Safe Health and Safety Representative Certificate and The Confined Space Certificate. Wayne is married and has two children. You’ll often see him running, playing rugby or motorsport-pre 1965 racing

Natasha
Office Manager
Natasha or otherwise known as Tash joined Lawn & Turf Contracting September 2016 as an Administrator looking after Health and Safety, Employment Contracts, Payroll and Customer Service and now is our Office Manager and has been since 2021. Tash studied at Canterbury University where she gained a Double Major in History and Classics. She has worked in New Zealand, Sydney and London in National Account Management for 11 years for a range of FMCG companies, with her latest experience being with Delegat Wines and Walt Disney. Tash spends her downtime chauffeuring her two children to sports events, spending time outside walking local tracks and lakes, refurbishing old pieces of furniture and has an interest in travelling.

Sheralee
Management Team/Administrator
Sheralee has worked for Lawn & Turf Contracting since October 2020. She is in the office as an Administrator and has been managing our Lawncare Team since 2021. Before her time at Lawn & Turf she studied and worked in Early Childhood Education and completed a Certificate in Business Admin & Technology. When Sheralee isn’t working, you’ll typically find her at the gym, exploring the North Island or catching up with friends.

Richard W
Lawncare Technician
Richard has been with us for 2 ½ years and previously worked as a Senior Stud Groom at Windsor Park Stud. Richard works in our lawncare division and has a fantastic understanding of what is needed to keep a lawn healthy as well as maintaining great customer service with our clients. During his time at Lawn & Turf Richard has obtained his Approved Handler Certificate, and his NZ Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3 Sports Turf). He also has his Class 2 and 4 truck licences. Away from work Richard is a keen runner and has completed one Marathon in Cork and three half Marathons in Paris, Newcastle and Cambridge. He also has an interest in amateur dramatics with the Cambridge Repertory Society and spends most weekends gardening.

Lawncare Technician
John came to us December 2021 wanting to get back outdoors and hands on. John is a local to Ohaupo/Te Awamutu and previously owned/managed his own agricultural spraying business for 25 years while also spending as much time as he can with his wife and three children. In Johns spare time he likes to keep active from riding his bike, snow skiing or walk up Mount Pirongia. Johns background knowledge in spraying and chemicals makes him an asset to our Lawncare Team

Lawncare Technician
Say hi to Ben. Ben is part of the Lawncare team and he is a keen employee with a great attitude. He’s committed to expanding his skillset through increased industry training as he prepares to embark on the Primary ITO Level 3 Turf Culture Course in 2021. We all wish him the best in his studies… Outside of work and study, in his spare time Ben enjoys fishing, camping and relaxing with friends and family. Before joining Lawn and Turf, Ben’s previous occupation was in culinary as a chef for many years. Therefore, if you have any food related questions to go with your lawn care queries- ben’s your guy

Jay
Lawncare Technician
Jay joined Lawn and Turf Contracting July 2022 with some experience in lawn maintenance but very keen to develop in the Turf Industry. Since employed with Lawn and Turf Jay is undertaking his NZ Certificate in Turf Culture, Completed Standard Growsafe and Class 2 Licence. Jay started off in our construction team but as the position opened for a lawncare technician Jay expressed his interest and is now a valued member of our Lawncare Team. Away from work Jay spends his time with his close family, friends and pets with a very talented interest in music.

Arthur
Construction Team
Arthur has worked with us for 3.5 years. He has previous experience dairy farming for over 30 years and driving for road haulage for 2 years. Arthur is our tractor specialist levelling, preparing and tractor seeding. He has his Class 2, 3,4 ,5 Truck Licence and is Site Safe Approved. In his spare time Arthur enjoys playing indoor bowls, and spending time at the beach.

Ken
Construction Team
Ken started working for Lawn & Turf Contracting in September 2019, and his previous experience was varied with working in Civil Construction, working as a Dairy Farm Assistant, and as an Operations Assistant and Operation Team leader at BBC Technologies Limited. Ken works within our Construction division in machine operation, irrigation and tractor driving and has his Class 2 Truck Licence and Forklift Operators licence. Outside of work Ken enjoys fishing from both shore and boat, speedway racing and online gaming.

Shaun
Construction Team
Shaun is a local boy who attended Te Awamutu College and was a keen sportsman who showed great leadership skills in captaining the Second Eleven Soccer Team. Not only does he have a great attitude but he’s already fitting in with the crew including past class mate, Cody (who was introduced earlier)- continuing to add to the fresh perspective of the team.
